The fundamental misunderstanding at the heart of the AI tutoring craze is the belief that learning is a process of information transfer. It is not. We are also facing a crisis of resilience. If you are never allowed to fail in the controlled environment of a classroom, you will crumble in the chaotic environment of the real world. The AI tutor is a helicopter parent in code form, hovering over the student and ensuring they never skin their cognitive knees.
